چکیده

La in the three levels inhibited Cd bioaccumulation by up to 36%, 44% and 25% respectively on day 12. Organ-level analysis revealed that La possibly exerted its inhibitory action by delaying the saturated absorption of Cd in the gill. La antagonized the negative effects of Cd on Ca content, but 25 μmol/L La significantly decreased the Zn content in the oysters. It was concluded that La markedly influenced the metal metabolism of Crassostrea gigas and the presence of La must be considered in marine pollution assessment by using oysters

Effects of cadmium on aneuploidy and hemocyte parameters in the Pacific oyster, Crassostrea gigas.

Pacific oysters, Crassostrea gigas, are commonly reared in estuaries where they are exposed to anthropogenic pollution. Much research has been made on the toxicity of cadmium to aquatic organisms because the compound recurrently contaminates their environment. Our study examined the influence of cadmium on aneuploidy level (lowered chromosome number in a percentage of somatic cells) and hemocyt...

In vitro effects of cadmium and mercury on Pacific oyster, Crassostrea gigas (Thunberg), haemocytes.

In the past decades, shellfish culture has developed in a significant way around the world. However, culture areas are often subject to recurring anthropic pollution. The recrudescent presence of industrial wastes is a source of heavy metals and results in pollutant transfer towards the aquatic environment in estuarine areas. Because of their mode of life, bivalves, including mussels and oyster...

Cerium Inhibits the Cadmium Uptake of Pacific Oyster Crassostrea gigas

Ce is a potential antagonist of Cd due to their similar ionic radius. Its effect on the bioaccumulation of Cd in pacific oyster Crassostreagigaswas explored through laboratory experiments. The oysters were exposed to 5, 10 and 25 μmol/LCe(NO3)3 in the presence of 25 μg/L Cd 2+ (0.22 μmol/L) for 12 days and the concentrations of Cd, Ca, Zn as well as Cu were indicated in the whole soft tissues a...

Colonisation of the Non-Indigenous Pacific Oyster Crassostrea gigas Determined by Predation, Size and Initial Settlement Densities

Survival of incipient non-indigenous populations is dramatically altered by early predation on new colonisers. These effects can be influenced by morphological traits, such as coloniser size and density. The Australian non-native Pacific Oyster Crassostrea gigas is generally more fecund and faster growing compared to the native Saccostrea glomerata found in the same habitat. It is therefore imp...
